AMPANG, Aug 20 — The Selangor government has started the installation of light-emitting diode (LED) lights, solar power systems and rainwater harvesting systems (SPAH) in all strata buildings throughout the state.
State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said the installation will help reduce carbon emissions in line with the First Selangor Plan (RS-1).
"Installation works have started and are ongoing. Many Joint Management Body (JMB) and Management Corporation (MC) statewide have been roped in for this programme.
"The allocation for this installation is RM400 million and is set until 2025. The number of lights that will be installed was not set because it depends on the block units of each building," she said.
She said this after attending the Ampang Parliamentary constituency coordinator's aid-giving ceremony at the Ukay Perdana Mosque here yesterday.
In the recent Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting, Rodziah said that the campaign to install LED lights, solar power systems and SPAH in all buildings throughout the state will be expanded, as part of efforts to combat climate change in the real estate industry.
She said the five-year-long campaign under the RS-1 involves central government and private residential strata residences, offices, hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, stadiums, markets, shopping centres, and factories.
