SHAH ALAM, Aug 12 — The state government has taken a serious view of the cyberbullying incidents, which appear to be on the rise in recent times, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the Selangor Mental Sihat (Sehat) programme is designed to help the community detect the level of mental health among individuals, including victims of cyberbullying.

"Sehat helps the people of Selangor realise their levels of mental health, through the initial screening of the self-conducted 'stress scale' and 'risk check' as early preventive measures.

"Psychosocial help from professional counsellors and support forums are offered via various components," Amirudin said in a Facebook post.

He also asked society to take advantage of Sehat's amenities, through a special button on the main screen of the SELangkah app.

"Selangor has spent RM1 million in helping those suffering emotional stress and related issues. However, this requires the involvement of all parties, and I call upon everybody to stop the practice of bullying in our society," Amirudin said.

Sehat can be accessed through a special button on the main screen in the SELangkah app. Among the functions that can be explored by users include mental health screenings, risk screenings, psychoeducational videos, a WhatsDoc portal, and a mental health literacy scale.

Recently the death of Shashikala Nagarajah went viral, as she died after receiving hateful comments on her TikTok account.

The 44-year-old mother of three reportedly experienced cyberbullying regarding her appearance and her handbag collection on social media.
