SHAH ALAM, Aug 4 — The free health screening programme Selangor Saring has seen a total of 9,969 participants since it was first held in Ijok, Kuala Selangor, in May.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the free screening held during the Selangor Penyayang roadshow in Sungai Tua and Gombak Setia registered the highest number of participants at 995.
“Congratulations to all of the participants. Selangor Saring helps in the early detection of risk factors for diseases including heart, kidney, and cancer so that immediate treatment may be given.
“The state government offers the free health screenings as part of its prevention efforts,” he said on Facebook.
The Selangor Saring programme for Sungai Tua and Gombak Setia constituents was held on July 31 at Padang Awam Batu Caves.
The state government has allocated RM3.4 million to make Selangor Saring a success, which would benefit 39,000 people, especially those with a family history of illnesses, obesity and practice an unhealthy lifestyle.
The programme, which runs until September 4, offers occult or colon faecal blood tests in addition to prostate, ocular, cervical, and breast cancer screenings.
