SHAH ALAM, July 26 — Seven district and land offices in Selangor received information technology communication (ICT) equipment on Sunday that will speed up the state's data sharing process for disaster management.

Petaling district officer Mohd Jusni Hashim said the equipment they received from the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) also allows for real-time data sharing.

"Previously, the data is only available at the state disaster operation centre and it was manually shared to the district level via Whatsapp.

"Despite receiving information via chat message, it was never delayed. However, with this new approach, we can access the data at any time," he told SelangorKini.

Mohd Jusni added that a system that provides links between departments and agencies to enable data sharing is currently being developed by SSDU and is expected to be completed in the near future.

On Sunday, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari handed over the equipment to seven land and district offices in conjunction with the Selangor Penyayang Roadshow (JSP) at Laman MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council).

Amirudin stated that the handover of assets, which included a smart television, laptops, and computer peripherals, was aimed to digitalise the district's disaster operation control centre for more effective management of emergencies.

The seven Land and District Offices that received the equipment are Petaling, Klang, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Gombak.

The Hulu Langat and Sepang Land and District Offices had also previously received similar assets during the first instalment of the Selangor Penyayang roadshow series at Padang Taman Kosas in Ampang Jaya on June 19.
