PETALING JAYA, July 24 — The state government has channelled RM6.9 million to assist schools in the Petaling district this year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the assistance was given to all types of schools, based on applications received as of May 31.

“The School Aid (Bantuan Sekolah) programme continues this year with a total allocation of RM26 million. Today, we handed over nearly RM2 million to 10 schools as a symbolic gesture from the state government.

“The amounts received for each school differs, depending on their needs,” he said at a media conference during the Selangor Penyayang roadshow at Laman MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council) here today.

Among the schools that received the assistance were Sekolah Rendah Islam (SRI) Integrasi Masjid Darul Ehsan, Sekolah Agama Rendah (SAR) Kafa Integrasi Setia Alam, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas Selangor dan Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

Also included were Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Chung Hwa Damansara, SJKC Damansara, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Vivekananda Petaling Jaya, SJKT Sungai Renggam, SMK Assunta and Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Katolik.

Amirudin informed that distribution for the second series of the School Aid (Bantuan Sekolah) programme would begin by September.

“Each application will be checked and vetted by the Human Resource Management Division of the Selangor State Secretary's Office. The respective state executive councillors will also give their advice on the applications,” he said.
