Selangor offers insurance up to RM5,000, aid for basic medical care

SHAH ALAM, 23 July — The Iltizam Selangor Sihat (ISS) programme offers people of Selangor up to RM500 in financial help for basic medical care, including outpatient costs and vaccinations.

According to Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, the improved people's health protection programme, which replaced the previous insurance scheme, also provided insurance coverage up to RM5,000 and a RM1,000 death benefit.

He said that Selangor Saring, a free health screening programme, was also put in place by the state government to detect diseases in individuals at an early stage and stop them from getting severe.

“This week, Selangor Saring will cover the areas in Meru, Sementa, Selat Kelang, Kampung Tunku and Bukit Gasing,” said the Menteri Besar on Facebook today.

A video shared by Amirudin had also featured Selangor Public Health Advisor Dr Mohammad Farhan Rusli promoting the ISS initiative to encourage more citizens to take advantage of the programme.

The ISS was first introduced on July 2 targeting 100,000 residents to receive benefits involving an allocation of around RM67 million under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) health cluster.

On July 2, the ISS was first introduced under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) health cluster and was designed to help 100,000 residents with an estimated RM67 million in funding.

A number of other initiatives, including the Heart Treatment Scheme, Bantuan Sihat Selangor, Cancer Screening, Child Nutrition, Mental Health Care, Tuberculosis Treatment, Eye Health Checkup, and Women's Health Scheme, are also included in the ISP in addition to ISS and Selangor Saring.

A total of RM3.4 million is allocated to make Selangor Saring a success, helping 39,000 people, especially those with obesity and unhealthy lifestyles and family medical histories.

Physical screening, blood and urine tests, eye, cervical, breast, and prostate cancer screenings, as well as occult stool or colon blood testing, are all part of the programme that runs through September 4.
