BALING, July 21 — The Selangor government has donated RM100,000 to the Baling District and Land Office as well as residents affected by the floods in Kedah earlier this month.
The donations were made during the Misi Selangor Penyayang (MSP) 2.0 relief mission to Baling, Kedah, that included RM30,000 in cash to the Baling District and Land Office, while the balance was used to provide basic necessities to 314 affected families.
Led by state executive councillor for youth Mohd Khairuddin Othman, state executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail and state executive councillor for rural development Borhan Aman Shah also joined the mission.

The three of them also visited six villages to distribute basic household items including mattresses, pillows and blankets, as well as greet the victims affected by the disaster.
A total of 150 members of the Special Action Squad (Pantas) from 12 local councils, as well as volunteers from Selangor Volunteer (SERVE) and Team Selangor also participated in the mission.
On July 6, the first mission was joined by 262 personnel from the local authorities as well as volunteers who helped clean up 73 flood victims' homes and removed 90 tonnes of bulk garbage from the affected area.
Continuous heavy rain for almost three hours in Baling on July 4 resulted in Sungai Kupang’s water level overflowing into the homes of nearby residents.
Three members of a family, including a pregnant woman, perished after being swept away by the currents.
