GOMBAK, July 9 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) will hold the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat carnival through the end of the year, says its marketing manager Md Saad Mahsah.
He said the sales programme might be held more regularly but on a smaller scale to give the public the chance to purchase essential items at lower costs.
“For example, in light of the Muslims celebration Aidiladha on Sunday, we had organised a mega sale today (yesterday). However, this time is different because we brought in more items.
Next, we'll have (sales) more frequently at a number of locations that are being identified to lighten the burden on the people of the state when the cost of items is rising,’ he said when met by SelangorKini.
Since December last year, PKPS has been operating a low-cost sale programme of essential goods in 64 locations around the state to lessen the burden of the people following the increase in the price of products.
Other items sold include fresh meat priced at RM35 per kilogramme, mackerel or sardines (RM8 per pack), and cooking oil in addition to eggs and chicken.
On May 19, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that 60,000 families in the state have benefited from the programme.
