SHAH ALAM, July 5 — The majority of the available booths for the Selangor International Business Summit 2022 (SIBS 2022) have already been taken up, said Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris.

He said this year, SIBS 2022 is offering 850 booths, taking up all eight expo halls as well as two conference halls in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

“The event, which will be held from October 6 to October 9, will also feature state pavilions from Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak.

“SIBS 2022 will also be welcoming participants from key markets including the Philippines, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Our target is to achieve RM350 million in potential negotiated sales for this year.

“We also anticipate at least 30,000 trade visitors will return to the international business summit,” Hasan said in his speech during the official launch of SIBS 2022 at The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur here today.

Also present at the event was state executive councillor for trade and investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.

This year’s iteration of SIBS will be bigger, a continuation of its role as the regional premier summit for local and international industry players to convene and explore the great potential of both Malaysia and regional markets.

Meanwhile, Teng said the return of the SIBS 2022 will be an opportunity to strengthen Selangor’s position as a competitive and preferred investment destination in Asia.

“It is also an avenue to demonstrate our resilience, agility and determination to succeed and move forward despite all the challenges that we have faced in the past two years.

“SIBS 2022 will further strengthen Selangor’s position as the most progressive and developed state in Malaysia. Its strategic location, established value chains across numerous industries, advanced physical and online connectivity, and excellent state government support makes it one of the most attractive trading hubs in the region and an ideal gateway to Asean and the world for investors,” he added.
