KUALA SELANGOR, July 5 — Recipients of the School Aid (Bantuan Sekolah) programme expressed their gratitude for being selected by the state to receive cash assistance to repair their educational institutions' infrastructure.

Fardhu Ain Basic Class (Kafa) head teacher Sorayah Mohd Som said the RM40,000 cash aid will be used to repair their religious school Kafa Integrasi Nurul Huda Parit Mahang here which was damaged by floods last year.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), with this assistance, we plan to replace the doors and some equipment that were damaged due to the floods for the comfort of students and teachers.

"Thank you to the Selangor government for this contribution, the amount is quite large and will be useful to repair the school for the convenience of 509 students," she said.

Sorayah was among the recipients of the School Aid programme that was presented by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari in conjunction with the Selangor Penyayang roadshow at the Stadium Utama Kuala Selangor near here, on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Maahad Tahfiz Ar-Ruqaiyah teacher Khairul Anuar Arifin said the aid would be spent to replace broken school equipment such as tables and chairs.

“The Selangor government really cares for us, as almost every year our ‘madrasah’ receives assistance. Insya-Allah (God willing), this assistance will be utilised for the comfort of more than 20 students,” he said.

The School Aid programme is a state government initiative for the maintenance and development of infrastructure at government and private schools.

Previously, application for the aid was open only to Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC), Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT), Sekolah Mubaligh (Missionary school), Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) and Sekolah Agama Rakyat/Sekolah Rendah Agama Integrasi (registered with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department).

Now it has been extended to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) in Selangor, which can be applied online.
