SHAH ALAM, July 4 — The slaughter of sacrificial animals for Hari Raya Aidiladha in Selangor will be carried out according to standard operating procedures (SOP) as before the Covid-19 pandemic, said state executive councillor for Islamic religious affairs Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni.

However, unwell individuals or those with symptoms were prohibited from attending at the sacrificial ritual locations.

“The SOPs for sacrificial worship have returned to normal, as it was before the pandemic hit the country.

"However, I must remind those who are unhealthy, sick or have symptoms to not attend the sacrifice at its location," he said.

Mohd Zawawi was speaking at the officiation of the Halal Qurban Slaughter Strengthening Seminar, held at Dewan Syarahan dan Muzakarah Islam earlier today.

The seminar saw 450 participants from four districts, namely Petaling, Hulu Langat, Klang and Gombak.

On the topic of the seminar, he said it aims to provide exposure to the skills of handling the slaughter of sacrificial animals in accordance with Islamic regulations, apart from compassion to animals.

"On the virtues of conducting sacrificial activities, there are several objectives which include refining the sharpness of sustainable system management involving financial sustainability, manpower, the environment and food security.

"In addition, it aims to build accuracy when it comes to halal food that serves as a source of spiritual and physical sustenance, fosters cooperation and love among the ummah, as well as provide training for managing animal sacrifice with kindness and mercy," Mohd Zawawi said.
