MPHS issues compound, cease operations order for unauthorised rope-swinging activities

HULU SELANGOR, June 27 — The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) has confiscated the equipment of a company that ran rope-swinging extreme sports activities in Kuala Kubu Bharu on June 24.

Harian Metro reported council president Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd as saying the operation, in cooperation with the Hulu Selangor Works Department and the police, comes in the wake of complaints lodged that the activities were being conducted without prior authorisation.

"An examination of the location found that no rope swing activities were taking place. However, there was a cabin with several rope-swinging equipment along the Pertak bridge, which blocked off part of the highway.

"During the operation, the company manager was present and informed of the offence committed. The company acknowledged its fault and ceased operations until all conditions have been met," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Hasry added that MPHS confiscated 73 cones and 34 plastic barriers, as well as issuing a compound under Section 46(1)(a) of the Street, Drainage, and Buildings Act 1974, for placing any objects or items that could cause obstruction in a public area.

He said the operator was advised to seek permission to conduct rope-swinging activities from the Youth and Sports Ministry.

"Up to the present, no permission was granted by the Hulu Selangor Works Department for the bridge's usage to conduct such activities.

"Similarly, MPHS has never issued any permission or approval for a license to operate such activities," Mohd Hasry said.
