MBSA issues compound against eatery for partially cementing fire hydrant

SHAH ALAM, June 24 — A restaurant in Section 13, here, was given a compound by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) for carrying out renovation works on a public sidewalk and had partially covered the fire hydrant.

The local council stated on Facebook that during an inspection, it was found that the restaurant had extended its premise onto the sidewalk.

“A compound warning has been given to the owner of the eatery, and the Fire Department personnel were also present during the inspection.

“MBSA has issued a compound and obstruction notice under the Roads, Drains and Buildings Act 1974, Act 133,” said MBSA.

Recently, the restaurant had went viral on social media following an illegal sidewalk extension that left half of the fire hydrant embedded in the cement.

The majority of social media users have criticised the act and asked the authorities to demolish the structure as it would put the customers at risk.
