SELAYANG, June 21 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has spent more than half of its RM1 million allocation to realise school and student programmes throughout the state.
Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said MBI has funded the development of school infrastructure as well as Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) programmes, based on their applications.
"We received applications to repair leaking roofs, damaged toilets, to replace other equipment including chairs and tables in the school canteens, as well as laptops.
"We still have some of the allocation left and will support the schools that need it, so the management can apply for it. Indeed, I believe each week applications are made for us to take into consideration," he said.
Ahmad Azri was speaking at the handover ceremony for five laptop units for use by the access centre of SMK Ideal Height near here, earlier today.
Also in attendance was Taman Templer state assemblyman Mohd Sany Hamzan and the school's principal Zarina Mahmood.
MBI has allocated RM1 million to support student and school programmes in Selangor for 2022, which includes RM500,000 for infrastructural development and RM500,000 for PIBG programmes.
Last year MBI also allocated RM30 million to realise the Selangor Internet Data programme, the Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS), transportation rebates to vaccination centres, back-to-school programmes, as well as aid for Deepavali and Christmas.
