SHAH ALAM, June 15 — More special needs childrens’ programmes will be organised following the signing of a collaboration between Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) and the Selangor State Education Department (JPNS).

Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS) department head Danial Al-Rashid Haron said this includes the AnIS Teacher Seminar programme, an initiative for teacher development using new methods suited for the challenges of teaching special needs children in schools.

“Educating and improving the level of special needs children is a heavy task borne by teachers.

"Therefore, the state government through Yawas has taken the initiative to help teachers by improving their knowledge and skills," he said in a statement today.

Danial added that the collaboration will also see the establishment of the Independent Living Support Centre (ILSC), a skills training centre for disabled children (OKU) aged 18 and above who face learning difficulties.

The collaboration signing ceremony at KIP Hotel Selayang was officiated by state executive councillor for women empowerment and family Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, with some 97 teachers in attendance.
