SHAH ALAM, May 26 — The number of visitors for each ward in the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang has been limited to a maximum of 50 people during visiting hours, said the Selangor State Health Department (JKNS)

Its director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said the decision was made during a meeting on April 25, aimed at controlling crowds in the ward during visiting hours.

“Each visitor is allowed to visit a patient for 30 minutes only at any given time and the visitors’ capacity will depend on the number of patients in the ward. However it cannot exceed 50.

“Additional visitors are allowed only under certain circumstances and subject to change according to the situation. Visitor passes will also be issued so the ward’s management can determine the number of visitors for each visiting hour,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Sha’ari added that JKNS will ensure that the policies and regulations set out in the visitation policy for caregivers and visitors at all hospitals during the transition phase to Covid-19 endemic will be properly enforced.

“The policies for visitors and caregivers have been adjusted with HTAR’s needs and is provided with good intent. There are no hindrances for visitors who wants to visit a patient but they need to comply with the guidelines,” he said.

Previously, on April 22, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah issued Visitor and Caregiver Guidelines after the authorities granted the public permission to visit healthcare facilities, in line with Malaysia's transition to the endemic phase of Covid-19.
