Kuala Langat hotel owner fined RM1,200 for operating without license

SHAH ALAM, May 11 — A hotel owner was fined RM1,200 in default of five days’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court in Telok Datok today for conducting hotel activities without a license from the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL).

In a Facebook post, MPKL said Magistrate Khairul Farhi Yusob handed down the sentence on the man in his 40s.

The council said based on the facts of the case, the man committed an offence under By-Law 3(1) of the MDKL Hotel By-Laws 2007 and has a previous record for 29 compounds.

It said MPKL chief prosecutor Hasrizal Abdul Rahim prosecuted and was assisted by Ahmad Razali Abdul Manaf.

MPKL president Amirul Azizan reminded any individual who wishes to conduct hotel activities to comply with the council’s rules and regulations.

"Hotel owners need to apply for a license before conducting business activities," he said.
