Two sisters killed in motorcycle - lorry collision

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — Two sisters were killed when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a lorry in Jalan PJS 3/2, Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya yesterday.

Petaling District Police chief ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the accident happened at 8.54pm, and both victims, aged 15 and 11, died on the spot.

He said it is believed that the siblings were on their way to buy food in the area when the rider lost control of the motorcycle and was hit from behind by a lorry driven by a man.

"The lorry driver, aged 35, was unable to avoid them and his statement has been recorded to assist in the investigation. His (lorry driver) urine sample for drugs and breathalyser for alcohol tested negative," he said when contacted today.

The bodies of both victims have been taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for autopsies and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Mohamad Fakhrudin said his team is looking for witnesses or those who have any evidence related to the accident to help in the investigation.

He added that police are also trying to identify the owner of the motorcycle apart from investigating whether there was parental negligence as both victims did not have a driving licence.
