SHAH ALAM, April 18 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has managed to save approximately 1,898.8 kg of excess food from three Ramadan bazaars under its jurisdiction from being disposed of at waste sites.
In a Facebook post, it said the amount of food saved is based on collections made from April 4 until April 17 at the Ramadan bazaars in Section 19, Taman Sri Muda in Section 25 and Subang Bestari Section U5.
"Any leftover food that could not be sold by traders are collected everyday and distributed for free to several locations via MBSA's MYsave Food @ Bazar Ramadan programme.
"The distribution process is handled by the council's Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning Department in cooperation with WWF Malaysia, GEMA Youth dan the UiTM Volunteer Brigade," MBSA said.
The collected foods are distributed in the following locations:
- Surau Al-Amin Seksyen 19
- Surau An-Najahiyah Seksyen 19
- Surau Hamiddean Seksyen 19
- Masjid Taman Sri Muda Seksyen 25
- Pangsapuri PPR Kampung Baru Hicom Seksyen 26
- Flat Proton Seksyen 27
- Pangsapuri Seri Purnama Seksyen U5
- Pangsapuri Sri Saujana Seksyen U5
- Pangsapuri Sunway Sinar Seksyen U9
- Surau Al-Mahdi Taman Bukit Subang Seksyen U16
- Surau Pangsapuri Teratai Taman Bukit Subang Seksyen U16
- Pangsapuri Melati Taman Bukit Subang Seksyen U16
