SHAH ALAM, April 12 — The issue of bringing children below 12 years of age to Ramadan bazaars will be brought forward during the upcoming state executive councillors’ meeting.

State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said this is due to differing opinions regarding the matter which requires a thorough discussion.

“Some people think that children should not be allowed to go to the bazaars because their vaccination rates are still low and exposes them to the risk of a Covid-19 infection.

“However, some have also argued that it would be difficult for parents to buy food as they need to leave their kids to do so,” he told SelangorKini.

Ng said so far Ramadan bazaar operations are running smoothly and remain under control.

“Local councils are constantly monitoring the situation to ensure traders and visitors comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times,” he said.

This year, the state government has allocated approximately 11,967 Ramadan bazaar lots after taking into account current Covid-19 transmission in the country.
