SHAH ALAM, April 12 — A total of 330 enforcement officers from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) have been mobilised to monitor the price of items sold in Selangor, particularly chicken.

State executive councillor for consumer affairs Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said inspections are conducted every day until June 5, targeting wet markets, sundry shops and selected supermarkets.

“The inspections are carried out to ensure the traders comply with the maximum price set by the government.

“Failure to comply can result in offenders being charged under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

Mohd Zawawi added to date, a total of five cases involving three traders were detected in Klang, Puchong and Kajang where the traders were found guilty for selling chicken above the set price.

“Two of them were also investigated further as they failed to produce licensing documents to sell chickens,” he said.
