SHAH ALAM, April 8 — The state government has re-gazetted the 486.07-hectare Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve as a Selangor Permanent Forest Reserve.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the size of the area includes the Busut Baru Orang Asli village at 42.05 hectares and the raw water pipeline alignment for the Sungai Rasau Water Treatment Plant at 8.58 hectares.

"The state government has instructed the Selangor Land and Mines Department as well as the Selangor Forestry Department to re-gazette the Kuala Langat Utara Forest Reserve immediately," he said.

Amirudin was speaking during the Rapat Rahmah Ramadan event at the Dewan Jubli Perak earlier today.

The Menteri Besar added the decision was made through the State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN) on Wednesday (April 6)

In February, the state government targeted a 33.3 per cent of the area within Selangor to be preserved as permanent forest reserves by 2030.

State executive councillor for the environment and green technology Hee Loy Sian said for the time being, permanent forest reserves account for approximately 32.5 per cent of the state's total area size.
