Turn numbers system used to control visitors entering, leaving Ramadan bazaars — MBSA

SHAH ALAM, April 7 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has utilised a turn-based numbering system to better control the number of visitors to Ramadan bazaars in its jurisdiction this year.

Its corporate and public relations division head Shahrin Ahmad said this was being done to ensure that there are not too many people in a bazaar's vicinity at any given time.

"Despite the transitioning to the endemic phase we are still using this system to ensure there is no overcrowding in bazaars, as well as reducing the risk of Covid-19 spreading.

"MBSA advises visitors to not linger for long in the bazaars, especially parents bringing little children," he said to SelangorKini.

Citing the Crowd Control System used by the Petaling Jaya City Council, Sharin said MBSA commends such technology as a good method.

"However there have been no proposals yet to create the technology system and as such we will still maintain the turn-based numbering system which is being monitored by Rela Corp personnel," he said.

Sharin added that MBSA's Environmental Health Department also conducted frequent monitoring at bazaars to ensure all traders constantly maintain cleanliness and obey the set regulations.

"MBSA is asking Ramadan bazaar traders to always comply with the rules and regulations in addition to maintaining the cleanliness of the foods and beverages being sold," he said.
