PETALING JAYA, April 5 — The Crowd Control System (CCS) using an infrared system has been placed in crowded areas in Petaling Jaya to help the local council trace the number of visitors.
The technology introduced by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), is now being used at the Ramadan bazaar in Section 4 Kota Damansara, to count every single person that passed in front of the device.
A survey by SelangorKini found that the system also shows the number of visitors who have entered on a display screen and a warning siren would be activated should the bazaar has reached its full capacity.
Even though the CCS system is now in use, visitors are still required to scan their MySejahtera application at the entrance to the bazaar which is guarded by Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (Rela) personnel.
Previously, Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said the system was introduced to control the number of crowds in Ramadan bazaars as an effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Other than Kota Damansara, the system is also placed at the Ramadan bazaar in SS 6/1 in Kelana Jaya, as both locations recorded a high number of visitors every year.
