KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 — The number of Covid-19 recovered cases was much higher than the number of new positive cases yesterday said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said a total of 25,467 recovered cases were reported yesterday bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 3,844,766, while new daily cases totalled 20,923 bringing the cumulative total of Covid-19 cases to date to 4,122,004.
Of the new daily infection, 7,802 cases or 37.29 per cent involved Category One while 13,006 cases or 62.16 per cent were Category Two.
"A total of 44 cases (0.21 per cent) were in Category Three; 26 cases (0.12 per cent) in Category Four and 45 cases (0.22 per cent) in Category Five," he said in a statement on the current Covid-19 situation today.
On the use of specialised health facilities for Covid-19 cases, Dr Noor Hisham said no state registered over 50 per cent of bed usage at the Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC).
However, he said five states, namely Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Johor, Penang and Selangor showed over 50 per cent usage of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 198 cases required ventilator support.
"Yesterday, 979 Covid-19 cases were admitted to hospitals with 569 cases or 58.2 per cent involving those in categories one and two, while 410 cases or 41.8 per cent involved categories three, four, and five," he said.
Meanwhile, three new clusters have been identified and 232 clusters are still active.
The national Covid-19 infectivity rate or Rt recorded yesterday was 0.93 with Selangor recording the highest value at 1.08 while Sabah the lowest at 0.64.
