MB: Selangor Digital School alumni get to explore various job markets

SHAH ALAM, March 24 — Students who have graduated from the Selangor Digital School (SDS) have a chance to explore various job markets, including those in the government, in government-linked corporations, and the private sector.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this is due to increasing demands due to the digitalisation agenda.

He said everyone must accept that digitalisation has become an important part of daily life.

“Digitalisation is the new normal that we have to adapt to at this point. Even though we are in the (Covid-19) transition phase from a pandemic to an endemic, we cannot deny that people are already comfortable doing things digitally.

“They prefer to take Grab instead of a taxi, pay their bills online, and buy their food via mobile apps. This is a good development, and we have to expand it further due to increasing needs and demands,” Amirudin said at a press conference following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony of the SDS at the Selangor State Secretariat Building, here today.

The agreement will see Universiti Selangor (Unisel) collaboration with The Hive Southeast Asia (The Hive SEA) to make SDS the centre and platform for an ecosystem of highly skilled digital talents.

The MoU was signed by Unisel president and vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohammad Redzuan Othman while The Hive SEA was represented by its managing director Datuk Syed Haizam Hishamuddin Putra Jamalullail Syed Anwar Jamalullail.

The Menteri Besar said SDS is a digital learning platform specifically to facilitate professional workers and graduates in helping them to acquire much-needed technological skills and to fill the gaps in the digital job market.

“With the establishment of SDS, relevant digitalisation courses that meet the needs of the digital job market can be offered at a reasonable price with the approval from the Institution of Higher Learning.

“Hopefully, through SDS, more talents and skilled workers in the digital field can be produced to reduce the job market gap in the digital economy sector,” he said.
