SHAH ALAM, March 6 — The state government is planning to develop an app to make it easier for the public to obtain comprehensive information on the halal sector on one platform.
State executive councillor for halal industry Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said the
development of halal material data is being discussed together with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department and the Malaysian Islamic Development Department.
"We admit it is challenging to collect halal-related data. So with such data available in digital form, consumers, as well as producers, retailers and importers, will find it easily accessible.
"In addition to halal ingredients, the app will also collect the data on the number of halal certificate applications and industry players," he told reporters after officiating the Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) 2022 at the Shah Alam Convention Centre yesterday.
During his speech, Mohd Zawawi said Selangor's ongoing halal capacity building programme modules will be improved from time to time, to meet industry needs.
In addition, he said the Halal Suri programme is able to increase the productivity of mothers in the state, via the output of frozen products to be marketed to customers at home, without having to travel far.
"The programme will help homemakers with a source of income, as the products they make including chicken and frozen cakes are both tasty and great," Mohd Zawawi said.
