SHAH ALAM, Feb 23 — The majority of Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) assistance applicants in Klang chose to receive cash instead of via electronic funds transfer (EFT) during the distribution process, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said this resulted in long queues at distribution venues in the area even though the Klang Land and District Office had provided options for the recipients to either receive the aid via ETF or cash.
“The situation also became out of control because the majority of the residents came a few hours earlier than their slated appointment. Hence, I urge applicants to adhere to their scheduled appointments and be present according to the given day and time.
“The appointment details are sent directly to the applicants via the short messaging system (SMS).
“InsyaAllah (God willing), with everyone’s cooperation and understanding, the BSB cash aid distribution process would be smoother and completed within the set period,” Amirudin said in a statement today, in response to the long wait complaints involving the flood-aid recipients in the district.
On December 21 last year, the state government had announced a RM100 million allocation under BSB to help flood-hit families following the heavy floods caused by continuous torrential rain from December 17 to December 19.
Distribution of the aid began on December 28 and is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
