SHAH ALAM, Feb 22 — Approximately 4,000 families affected by last year's floods in Shah Alam and Klang have received the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) aid at Dewan MBSA Kemuning Utama earlier today.

Shah Alam mayor Datuk Zamani Ahmad Mansor said the aid, which has been given out in stages since December last year, is expected to be done by this month.

"The Shah Alam City Council has prepared locations to assist the Klang District and Land Office to channel the aid, which will complete before February 28," he said when met.

Zamani added the standard operating procedures have been in place throughout the time the aid has been distributed, with enforcers and police personnel monitoring inside and outside the hall, to ensure the situation remains under control.

In December last year, the state government prepared RM100 million to repair infrastructure in Selangor, and provide RM1,000 to each household affected by the floods, in addition to RM10,000 for the next-of-kin of flood victims who perished in the disaster.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has previously estimated the flood damages amount to RM1.4 billion, in addition to infrastructural recovery costs of RM400 million.

He also apologised for the delay in distributing the aid, following overlapping applications which required thorough checks.
