GOMBAK, Feb 2 — Nearly all families in the districts affected by last year’s floods have received RM1,000 cash aid under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme, except for Klang and Petaling.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari admitted they received complaints and took immediate action to speed up the cash aid distribution in the areas.

“Petaling and Klang have a large number (of applicants) and their turn has not yet arrived because we have a certain capacity (limit) for withdrawal and distribution.

“So this is causing a little bit of delay, but after this, we will speed it up. Incidentally, the number of recipients and applicants are high. So far we have received over 100,000 applications and the review process causes a slight delay,” he said today.

He said this after making a Chinese New Year visit to several of his acquaintances in the Sungai Tua state constituency here.

As of 10am today, approximately RM55.041 million has been allocated for the BSB programme so far.

Earlier today, Amirudin said a total of 54,911 families affected by the floods in Selangor have received the RM1,000 cash aid.

“Also, thirteen families of flood victims who perished during the disaster have received RM10,000 in cash aid each,” he posted on Facebook.
