SHAH ALAM, Feb 1 — The state government has contributed various assistance amounting to RM320,000 to ensure smooth operation at the Covid-19 Integrated Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) 2.0 at the Malaysia Agriculture Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) in Serdang.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the contributions were channelled when MAEPS was activated and thousands of Covid-19 patients were admitted to the centre.
“The contribution includes tablet donation for the frontliners, logistic assistance, food as well as child care centre management cost at MAEPS, totalling RM320,000,” he said on Twitter today.
The centre will be officially closed on February 8 and the last group of Covid-19 patients who received treatment at the PKRC was allowed to leave yesterday.
In 14 months of its operation, over 166,000 Covid-19 patients were admitted to MAEPS 2.0 PKRC comprising category one to four patients.
MAEPS was activated as a PKRC on April 16, 2020, with the intake of Covid-19 patients at the centre only involving non-citizen patients for category one (no symptoms) and category two (mild symptoms) before it was closed on July 15 the same year.
On December 9, 2020, the government decided to reactivate the MAEPS PKRC following the increase in Covid-19 cases.
