MB calls upon Muslim tertiary students to apply for Zakat Anak Selangor aid

SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — Muslim youths of Selangor who are currently pursuing their studies at higher-education institutions (IPT) are encouraged to apply for the Zakat Anak Selangor Education Contribution (SPZAS) initiative.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the aid is meant for both students in and outside of Malaysia, who can apply for it online.

"Children of Selangor who are studying at IPTs inside and outside the country can apply for SPZAS at www.zakatselangor.com.my/spzas," he said in a Facebook post.

The one-off payment's application began on January 24, and runs until February 20 under the

asnaf fisabilillah allocation.

Domestic students will receive RM700 while students abroad will receive RM2,500, subject to the following criteria:

1) The applying student must be a Malaysian citizen.

2) Their head of family or guardian must be born in Selangor or a permanent resident of no less than three years.

3) The application is open to second-term students and above in the country for Islamic studies, as well as those pursuing their medical undergraduate levels in Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco.

4) The applying student must come from a household that earns less than RM5,000 for domestic students, and RM7,000 for students abroad.
