KLANG, Jan 19 — Up to 600 vouchers for the Jom Shopping Tahun Baharu Cina initiative have been prepared for residents in the Meru state constituency, in conjunction with the festival next month.
Its assemblyman Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mohd Mokhtar said the vouchers, worth RM100 each, will be distributed starting next week alongside daily necessities at his community service centre.
He added that residents will also receive an additional RM100 in cash aid from Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Amal Wanita Selangor (Pekawanis).
"We hope this aid will help to lighten the burden of its recipients, particularly those affected by the recent floods," he said after observing the handover of Bantuan Selangor Bangkit aid earlier today.
The initiative, part of the wider Jom Shopping Raya, was introduced by the state government and targets low-income groups as a long term initiative to look after the welfare and prosperity of the people.
The aid is provided through community service centres in each respective state constituency, based on race and the upcoming festive period.
