SHAH ALAM, Jan 18 — Permatang state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin has allocated RM35,000 for the Jom Shopping Chinese New Year vouchers.
She said a total of 350 constituents have received the shopping vouchers amounting to RM100 each.
According to her, the recipients can use it to buy festive essentials at the Pasir Penambang Fresh Mart Supermarket.
"We hope this contribution will ease their burden in making preparations for the festival and hopefully it can enliven their Chinese New Year celebration," she told SelangorKini.
She also advised the public to remain vigilant in celebrating the festival as the country is still struggling with threats from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jom Shopping Raya was introduced by the state government for the B40 group, to serve as a long-term initiative in ensuring the welfare and prosperity of the people.
Aid handover is conducted according to the main components of the respective races and festivals.
