SHAH ALAM, Jan 12 — A total of RM2.8 million has been spent by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to help flood-affected victims in the state.

Its chief executive officer Norita Mohd Sidek said out of the total, RM1.3 million were donated from several companies owned by MBI to the Ikhtiar Selangor Bangkit Fund.

She said through its Corporate Social Responsibility Department, MBI has allocated RM1.5 million to donate cash, food, necessities, and cleaning equipment to flood victims.

“Hopefully, these donations will be able to reduce their burden and help them deal with the post-disaster recovery,” she said after handing over the assistance to MBI employees affected by the floods at the Darul Ehsan Building here, earlier today.

Norita added that MBI employees had also participated in cooking for flood victims through the Dapur Ehsan programme.

The Selangor government had initiated the programme for 12 days from December 20 to 31 last year to fulfil flood victims’ need for food.

Around 14,000 food packs were distributed throughout its duration to flood victims in Taman Sri Muda, Padang Jawa and Puchong, including those in temporary relief centres.
