KDEBWM plans to take over factory waste management this year

SHAH ALAM, Jan 8 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) plans to take over the management of factory waste under the jurisdiction of all the local councils in Selangor by the end of this year.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the plan aims to reduce complaints of illegal waste cases that were frequently reported in the state.

He said currently KDEBWM is managing two local councils, namely the Kuala Langat Municipal Council and the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council.

“Illegal waste is being dumped everywhere in Selangor, and we do not want this to keep on happening. Hence, we plan to expand the area to manage the illegal waste from factories,” he said on the ‘Bual Bicara’ talk show broadcast live on SelangorTV, last night.

Ramli added that KDEBWM also plans to establish more recycling centres under the local councils to create sustainable waste management.

The state-owned solid waste management company had taken over all domestic waste collection operations in all local councils in Selangor beginning January 2020.
