SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) will conduct a large-scale post-flood cleanup operation in Taman Sri Muda, Section 25, this coming Saturday.
Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the one-day programme, in collaboration with the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT), is aimed at restoring the mood of nearly 10,000 residents in Taman Sri Muda who were badly affected by the recent disaster.
He added the local council (PBT), volunteers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will also join in the operation, which will focus on cleaning drains, roads, and waste remnants from the disaster.
“Yesterday we held a meeting at KPKT, and God willing a mega cleanup programme will be mounted as soon as the collection of flood waste is completed by this Saturday.
"This is not an easy job, so cooperation with the relevant parties is needed as Taman Sri Muda is the last area and also where most of the flood waste is," Ramli told reporters here today.
Meanwhile, he said the post-flood waste collection process in Taman Sri Muda has reached 90 per cent, and is expected to be completed by Saturday.
Ramli said approximately 1,000 tonnes of bulk waste is collected from the area every day.
“This process will only be completed when the residents stop clearing the flood waste. Maybe today they will remove 60 per cent and the rest tomorrow, so do not be surprised if waste can still be found in the area,” he said.
