SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — A total of 8,219 families affected by the floods in Selangor have received RM1,000 in cash aid each, as of today.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor government has spent RM8.239 million to date, through the Selangor Bangkit initiative.

"The state government will start delivering the cash aid from house to house, to make it easier for the people to receive assistance," he posted on Twitter.

On December 21 last year, the Selangor government announced a RM100 million allocation under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) initiative, following major flooding in the state due to heavy continuous rain from December 17 to December 19.

Apart from infrastructural recovery, the initiative also includes RM10,000 aid to the families of victims who died in the floods, and RM1,000 cash aid to the heads of families affected by the floods to help restore their homes.

Individuals eligible to receive assistance include victims who were relocated to temporary relief centres (PPS) and those who chose to remain at home during the flood.

The distribution of the cash aid started on December 28, and is expected to be completed by the end of January.
