SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 — Selangor government remains vigilant for the second wave of flooding even though it is not included in the list of states at risk, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the second wave is expected to hit the states located in the East Coast as well as Sabah and Sarawak, based on the recent briefing by the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali to Selangor government representatives.

According to him, meteorologists' forecasts also pointed towards the states mentioned by Mohd Zuki.

"Although relieved, we need to remain vigilant in case we are hit by parts of it and be prepared to face any eventuality," he said after handing over RM1,000 cash aid to flood victims under the Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme.

The second wave of floods is expected to hit several states following the forecast of continuous heavy rains.

Torrential rain from December 17 until 19 resulted in double the rainfall compared to the previous high of 180 millimetres, which caused severe flooding in several locations in Selangor.
