Post-flood: Costly heart treatment machine gets free repair

By Amin Ridzuan Ishak

SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 — A medical device for heart treatment worth nearly a quarter million ringgit was among the electrical equipment belonging to flood victims that was repaired for free during a programme supervised by a community activist.

Its founder Hisham Misripin said the machine, owned by a clinic in Section 13, was repaired by a mechatronic lecturer from Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi Mara in Petaling Jaya.

“I was told that the machine cost around RM200,000, and is the loss the owner has to bear if it no longer functions after being submerged in the flooding.

“Almost 90 per cent of the 200 electrical items belonging to victims that we took on have been repaired, so this way they can minimise their losses,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Hisham said the programme will be continued at Dewan Azalea in Sri Muda for five days beginning tomorrow (December 29), in collaboration with the Shah Alam City Centre.

“This time around, perhaps we will be going to flood victims’ houses as it might be difficult for them to go to the hall,” he said, adding that the programme will also be joined by the members of ‘Tukang Apa Hari Ini’ Facebook page.
