SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — A factory worker never expected his normal routine of coming home from work on early Saturday morning to turn into a heart-stopping experience.

Rosli Md Ghani, 34, never imagined he would experience a major flood that ended up submerging houses in Kampung Bukit Lanchong near here.

At 6.50am on that fateful day, upon reaching his home along Lorong Ikan Sepat, Rosli was shocked to find the water had risen up to ankle-level.

Despite the pouring rain, he immediately moved his car to higher ground,. spiriting his wife and four children to safety.

“I was the only resident in Lorong Ikan Sepat who managed to move his or her car to higher ground.

“Many did not expect the water to reach up the roof level, and failed to save their valuables and important documents in time," Rosli said when met at the temporary relief centre (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Putra Height 2 yesterday.

As of yesterday, the factory worker said he was not allowed to return home as the floods have not fully receded.

Meanwhile, technician Nazarudin Muhammad, 48, said the authorities have also barred him from returning home.

"I do not know what the situation is at home right now. At the time of the incident, fortunately, my family members were at their village in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

Nazarudin said he moved from Section 28 to Kampung Bukit Lanchong in 1999, under the assumption it was not in a flood-prone area.
