SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — Treating flood victims who lost their fingers are among the cases handled by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society’s (MRCS) paramedics at Taman Sri Muda in Section 25 since Friday.

Alvin Tan said they recently treated a man in his 30s in their ambulance, who is believed to have gotten his finger stuck in a door while trying to save himself during the flood incident.

"We washed the wounds, put on medicine and wrapped the man's finger to reduce the pain," he told Selangorkini yesterday.

Tan added thus far 100 flood victims have been treated, with the help of 14 volunteers, paramedics and doctors.

MRCS paramedics also referred 11 victims to the Shah Alam Hospital, mostly senior citizens with chronic illnesses.

"Unless absolutely necessary, we want to avoid sending victims to the hospital, so as to reduce the burden of health workers there who are currently busy managing Covid-19 patients," he said.
