Air Selangor: 472 areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat, KL face water cuts

SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 — A total of 472 areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat and Kuala Lumpur regions, will face unscheduled water cuts following the rise of river water that led to floods.

Pengurusan Air Selangor (Air Selangor) in a statement today said the incident had forced

the suspension of operation at two of its water treatment plant (WTP) and reduced the operational capacity of another.

“The Langat 2 WTP experienced an emergency power outage at the Semantan intake which resulted in the absence of water supply at the plant.

“The Cheras Batu 11 WTP had to be shut down due to floods. While at the Sg Langat WTP,  the increase in water turbidity level resulted in it only being able to produce 40 per cent of its daily production,” said Air Selangor in a statement on Facebook today.

Air Selangor said they are currently unable to provide an estimation of when the three WTPs can go fully operational again.

The agency also announced that following the closures of main roads due to floods, it will not be able to mobilise its water tankers mobilised to the affected areas and critical premises during the unscheduled water cuts.
