SHAH ALAM, Dec 16 — The unscheduled water disruptions caused by the temporary shutdown of the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is expected to fully recover by tomorrow night, said Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).
It said odour is no longer detected at the water intake, and as such the raw water treatment process at the Sungai Semenyih WTP will commence again.
"This is to ensure that clean and safe treated water can be distributed to consumers. The water supply in all 463 areas is expected to fully recover at 11:30 pm on December 17," Air Selangor said in a statement on Facebook.
Consumers can find out the areas affected by looking here, as well as via the Air Selangor app.
"Alternative water assistance through 81 water tankers will continue to be mobilised to affected areas and critical premises, during the unscheduled water disruption.
"We will provide updates progressively from time to time through all our official communication channels, including the Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter," it said.
Consumers can also call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300. Inquiries and complaints can also be submitted at the Help Centre via www.airselangor.com and the Air Selangor application.
The forced shutdown of the Sungai Semenyih WTP resulted in disruptions for 463 areas in five regions, including Sepang (194), Petaling (172), Hulu Langat (54), Putrajaya (23), and Kuala Langat (20).
Earlier today, Air Selangor said it is working closely with Lembaga Urus Air Selangor to identify the cause of raw water pollution along Sungai Semenyih, and several streams around the river.
It also activated its Emergency Response Plan (ERP) to provide alternative water supply to the consumers in affected areas.
