SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — The state government has received 1,372 applications of the Selangor Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Digitalisation Matching Grant as of October 30, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Out of the total, 793 applications amounting to RM3.8 million were approved.

“The approval process was carried out by a special committee led by former Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Ng Wan Peng, and The Hive Southeast Asia managing director Datuk Syed Haizam Jamalullail.

“Most of the applications were from five main digitalisation areas, namely the digital marketing with 40.7 per cent, followed by accounting system (20.9 per cent), human resource and payroll system (16.6 per cent), e-PoS system (11.2 per cent) and e-commerce (10.7 per cent),” he said.

Amirudin was responding to a query from Gombak Setia assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham on SMEs, during the State Legislative Assembly earlier today.

He added the state government has provided various programmes to enhance SMEs' productivity, as well as upgrade the industry’s online business aspect.

“Through the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), we have organised marketing programmes such as Sidec E-Commerce Class, Masterclass, as well as Selangor Online 100 and Brands 100.

“For the Sidec E-Commerce Class, the session emphasised three core factors; namely skilling, upskilling and reskilling, for the small traders who are venturing into the e-commerce sector for the first time. For this year, three modules have been presented through 15 classes which were conducted virtually, as no physical class was held this year.

“A total of 4,292 participants have attended all 15 classes, and this achievement has exceeded the initial target of 3,000 participants,” he said.
