SUBANG, Nov 27 — The Selangor Aviation Show 2021 (SAS) 2021 was successfully organised despite facing challenges including short preparation time and border’s closure.
State executive councillor for trade and investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the state’s first aviation show has received encouraging feedback from the local and international exhibitors even though it was considered to be a small-scale event.
He said in terms of its arrangement, several exhibitors have described the show as already on the international level.
“Their good responses have encouraged us to do better. Next year, we are aiming to gather 10 countries including new participants from Spain, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and China.
“The state government’s support to increase the (SAS) allocation from RM2 million to RM5 million is a boost to the organisers, so of course we will be hosting a bigger event next year.
"We will provide more aircraft and booths so that complete information in the aerospace and aviation industry ecosystem can be conveyed to the public,” he said when met after the closing ceremony of SAS 2021, at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre, here today.
The inaugural event was officially launched on November 25 and ends today.
A total of 12 memorandum of understandings (MOUs) have been inked between local and international industry players throughout the event, with the highest value at RM100 million.
Teng said the state government believes that with more participation from international aerospace and aviation industry players, the event could be propelled further globally.
“We expect that this (pandemic) situation will recover next year, hence we have to set higher targets as a challenge for us aside from closely working with the Federal government in developing the industry,” he said.
