SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 — Some RM5 million will be allocated for the next edition of the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) in 2022.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government hopes the annual event will be able to gather prominent aerospace and aviation players from around the world to create new business and investment opportunities at the domestic and international levels.

“Yesterday, I officiated SAS 2021, the first aviation show which was inspired by the investment mission I attended in 2019, which was the Paris Airshow,” he said during the tabling of the 2022 Selangor Budget (#Selangor2022) here, today.

Amirudin added that SAS 2021, which runs from November 25 to 27 at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre in Subang, saw the participation of 30 exhibitors from local and international companies.

Meanwhile, Selangor will establish its aerospace ecosystem to spur the industry by establishing several aviation centres, said Amirudin.

He said the state administration plans to set up the Selangor Aviation and Technology Innovation Sdn Bhd (Selati), the Selati_Universiti Selangor (Unisel) Centre of Excellence, the Selati-Unisel School of Aviation and the Selangor Skills Framework and Career Pathway for the aerospace industry.

“These efforts will create new investment opportunities for companies involved in the aerospace supply, artificial intelligence, and drone development at Unisel.

“Unisel will also offer a short course programme alongside the bachelor degree in aviation engineering to support the human capital development and the labour market in the aerospace industry,” he said.
