MSN hopes allocation given for training and repairs in #Selangor2022

SHAH ALAM, Nov 17 — The National Sports Council (MSN) has said it hopes athlete development and infrastructure programmes will be given focus during the tabling of the 2022 Selangor Budget next week.

Its executive director Mohamad Nizam Marjugi said the Covid-19 pandemic which has affected the country for nearly two years has also affected athletes' performance and the existing amenities.

The council similarly lost many athletes, since they choose to continue their studies, alongside a marked decrease of interest in resuming the post-pandemic training.

"Therefore we must start from the bottom, including looking for new liners for existing athletes in certain sports," he said when contacted today.

Nizam added that MSN facilities, including those owned by local authorities, must be improved so as to avoid the risk of accidents when athletes undergo training.

"During this time, many amenities may not be used, since sporting instruments also have an expiry date. If a budget is provided, we can use that to restore these amenities," he said.

This year's state budget, to be tabled on November 26, is expected focus on jumpstarting the economy after the Covid-19 pandemic has subsided.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari tabling of the budget can be followed live via the SelangorTV channel and Media Selangor on Facebook.

News coverage of the budget begins at 3pm, and can be found at SelangorKini's portals, including those in Mandarin, Tamil, and English.

Detailed information and comprehensive infographics will be uploaded on social media with the hashtag #Selangor2022.
