High-tide phenomenon in Klang under control, Bomba advises caution

SHAH ALAM, Nov 6 — The high-tide phenomenon with a maximum height of 5.6 metres early this morning has caused several coastal areas in Klang to be overflowing with sea water.

Klang Zone Fire and Rescue chief Hussin Ab Rahman said monitoring is being conducted at several locations, including Jeti Tok Muda, Pengkalan Sayang DSayang in Jalan Othman Baru, Jalan Pengkalan Nelayan in Rantau Panjang, Jeti Pulau Ketam, and Jalan Pandamaran Jaya.

"Since 6.30am today the situation in all locations monitored is under control, such as in Pandamaran Jaya where the waters reached as high as 5.6 metres. Nonetheless residents' homes are still safe to inhabit.

"As of today, no reports of residents being badly affected by this phenomenon have been filed. Several home sites in Kapar and Rantau Panjang are flooded, but that is to be expected during the high tide," he said.

Hussin also cautioned road users to be careful when passing by immersed areas, asides from slowing down their vehicles.

"Residents living near beaches should always be aware of their surroundings and careful with how things are.

"Always monitor your children and family, and comply with the authorities to move immediately should the water levels suddenly surge," he said.
