SHAH ALAM, Oct 13 — The upgrading and maintenance works on critical assets for the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant (SSP1 WTP) has reached 76.4 per cent, as of 3pm today.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said Pengurusan Air Selangor (Air Selangor) informed him the repair and maintenance work on water assets is running smoothly and ahead of schedule.

“As of 3pm today, the progress is at 76.4 per cent from the initial progress of 65 per cent. Alhamdulillah (praise be to God).

“The upgrading and maintenance works are expected to be complete by tonight, Insya Allah (if God wills) and water supply will be restored in stages according to the schedule.

“Consumers are advised to follow the latest updates via the https://hentitugas.airselangor.com/ website,” he said on Facebook earlier today.

Residents in 998 affected areas including the Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor districts were told several days before to store sufficient water for themselves in their homes, due to the scheduled disruption as a result of the maintenance works.

Air Selangor will provide 18 public water taps and mobilise 105 water tankers to affected areas, with priority for critical premises including hospitals, dialysis centres and funerals, from October 13 to 16.

Four local water filling stations will be made available for commercial customers to purchase water supply, to be collected using water tankers.

More information on the disruption can be found on Air Selangor’s mobile app, and its Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
